The box between your instruments and your computer. For a keyboard player the questions are a little different from a singer's: how many line inputs there are (a stereo synth needs two, and most cheap interfaces have only two in total), whether it has MIDI, so a hardware synth can be played from the DAW without another adapter, and whether it runs from the USB cable alone. After that it is preamps for mics, headphone outputs and any onboard processing. Filter by inputs first.
