Digital Pianos

Instruments made to be pianos. A weighted action, a handful of good sounds rather than a thousand mediocre ones, speakers built in so nothing else is needed, and a lid you can put a book on. Compare the action first, because it's the whole point, then the polyphony and whether the speakers are enough for the room. Nearly all of them have USB to host, which means they'll drive software as a weighted controller, and some pass audio the same way. That's genuinely useful if you play piano parts into a computer, but it isn't what the instrument is for, and a board designed as a controller will give you more knobs, faders and mapping for the money.
