The add-ons stand makers sell for their own frames: stacker arms and tilting second tiers, laptop and tablet holders, music rests, mic arms, table tops, wheels and fitted bags. The main types
- Second tier / stacker arms
- — A pair of arms that bolt onto the stand to carry a second keyboard above the first. Some tilt so the upper board angles towards you; K&M's 18811 stackers can be stacked again for a third tier.
- Arms
- — Replacement or extra support arms in a different length – longer for deep stage pianos, shorter for slim controllers, or a spare pair for an extra tier on a rack.
- Laptop / tablet holder
- — A tray or cradle that clamps to the frame to hold a laptop, iPad or small controller at playing height, so the stand doubles as a desk.
- Table top
- — A flat board that drops onto an X- or Z-stand to turn it into a DJ or production table.
- Clamp / holder
- — The fitting that joins an accessory to the stand tube – straight or angled – plus universal holder plates for mic arms and other bolt-ons.
- Music rest
- — A sheet-music desk that slots into the stand's column, for players who read.
- Mic holder
- — A flexible or fixed microphone arm that mounts to the stand so a singing keyboard player needs no separate mic stand.
- Bag
- — A padded carry bag cut to the folded stand – check it is for your exact model, since a double-X bag will swallow a single-X but not the other way round.
- Wheels
- — Locking castors that replace the stand's feet so a loaded rig can be rolled out of the way.
Choosing
Check the fit first: the Fits line on each accessory names the stands it is designed for, and the stand pages list their accessories in turn.
Second tiers eat into a stand's load rating – the weight of the arms plus the second keyboard all counts towards the maximum on the stand's own page.
